Bruce Roseland is president of the South Dakota State Poetry Society and a fourth-generation cattleman. His formal education ended when he earned an MA in sociology from the University of North Dakota and decided to return to the land, a place that made sense to him in a world that frequently did not. He has published six volumes of poetry, most recently Cowman, and has won a National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum Wrangler Award and a Will Rogers Medallion Award.
