Jon Schaff

Jon D. Schaff is professor of Political Science at Northern State University in Aberdeen. He writes about topics from campaign finance reform to the political thought of Alexis de Tocqueville as exemplified in the writing of Willa Cather. Schaff is a regular contributor to South Dakota Public Radio’s “Political Junkies” segment and the website Front Porch Republic, and in 2018 he presented at Rapid City TEDx on “Why American Politics Is so Screwed Up.” His first book, Abraham Lincoln’s Statesmanship and the Limits of Liberal Democracy, came out in July.
