Sean Sherman, Oglala Lakota, is a leader in the movement to revitalize indigenous foods for a modern culinary context. In the Twin Cities, he founded The Sioux Chef, opened the Tatanka Truck and established the non-profit North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems (NATIFS), all to increase education and access. Sherman’s book, The Sioux Chef’s Indigenous Kitchen, earned a 2018 James Beard Award and was named a top 10 cookbook of 2017 by the Los Angeles Times and others. This year, Sherman received a Bush Fellowship and a James Beard Foundation Leadership Award.
