Born and raised in Damascus, Syria, Sanaa Abourezk came to the United States to get her master’s in Food and Nutrition from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. After moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with her husband, she opened Sanaa’s Gourmet Mediterranean, which was named one of the nation’s top vegetarian restaurants by Food Network Magazine. Abourezk was featured on the 2016 season finale of Food Network's Beat Bobby Flay. She has published several cookbooks, most recently Vegetarian Mediterranean Cookbook.
