Sam Wasson studied film at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in his native Los Angeles before publishing his first book, A Splurch in the Kisser: The Movies of Blake Edwards. Since then, he has written five bestselling works of cultural criticism, most recently The Big Goodbye: Chinatown and the Last Years of Hollywood. Wasson has served as a visiting film professor, an international speaker, and a consultant for The National Comedy Center and The Film Society of Lincoln Center.
