Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve

Born and raised on the Rosebud Reservation, Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve has both Sioux and Ponca heritage. She received the National Humanities Medal in 2000 and an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from South Dakota State University in 2008. Sneve’s books for all ages include The Trickster and the Troll, Completing the Circle and Standing Bear of the Ponca, and she has also published numerous shorter pieces. Her most recent book is Sioux Women: Traditionally Sacred.
