A member of the South Dakota Hall of Fame, Donald F. Montileaux is a master ledger artist and storyteller. Following in the footsteps of his forefathers, as well as mentors like Oscar Howe and Herman Red Elk, he creates books with striking images that capture the Lakota way of life. His Tasunka, featuring both English and Lakota, won four national awards: the Moonbeam, the Mom’s Choice Award, the Aesop Award and the Western Writers of America Spur Award.
