Writing Workshops & Memoir Writing
As the author of twelve books (and more in progress), Jean Patrick reveals a behind-the-scenes look at her research and writing process. Jean also provides writing activities for all ages. Memoir writing instruction is available upon request.

Women, Sports, and History (Chautauqua)
Jean Patrick introduces audiences to the hero of her newest nonfiction book, "Long-armed Ludy and the First Women's Olympics." Jean also presents the historic context of sports and education, as well as samples of her research and writing process. This interactive presentation is appropriate for all ages.

The Girl Who Struck Out Babe Ruth (Chautauqua)
Jean Patrick (author of "The Girl Who Struck Out Babe Ruth") dramatizes the true story of Jackie Mitchell, the 17-year-old who pitched against the Yankees on April 2, 1931. Next, she reveals her writing process by displaying piles of research and stacks of drafts. Jean also connects Jackie Mitchell's story with the experiences of women baseball players in South Dakota.

Mount Rushmore: Past and Future
Using archival photographs and objects, author and researcher Jean Patrick presents unique facts and perspectives about Mount Rushmore. Appropriate for all ages, but works especially well with the 4th-grade South Dakota history unit.
