    John Luther Adams won both a Pulitzer Prize and a Grammy for his composition "Become Ocean." He joins the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and the South Dakota Humanities Council for a series of events, Oct. 6-8, 2016, ending with a performance with the SDSO in Sioux Falls.

    Seven humanities-oriented projects in South Dakota are receiving $33,482 in grants from the South Dakota Humanities Council. The funds will help the organizations with research, long-term projects and programs to share the humanities in South Dakota.

    A free public showing of “Rising Voices/Hotȟaŋiŋpi” will be on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. CST at the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre. The documentary tells the story of a passionate, dedicated and diverse group of people who are working together to save the Lakota language and restore it to its rightful place in Lakota, and American, culture.
