Alice McDermott

Alice McDermott is the author of nine novels, most recently Absolution, winner of the 2024 Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Award and finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award. Her novel Charming Billy won the 1998 National Book Award for Fiction, and she has been a Pulitzer Prize finalist three times. McDermott, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, is also the author of an essay collection, What About the Baby? Some Thoughts on the Art of Fiction.
