Bruce Roseland

Bruce Roseland is the eighth Poet Laureate of South Dakota. A fourth-generation cattle rancher in Seneca, he is a Prairie Poet whose poems reveal the sacred in relationships between the land, the life it supports, and its stewards. He received an MA in Sociology from the University of North Dakota. Roseland has published eight poetry books and won six national awards, including the 2025 Wrangler Award and 2025 Midwest Book Award for Earl’s Own Dakota Odyssey.
