Brian Turner served seven years in the U.S. Army, including deployments to Iraq and Bosnia-Herzegovina. He has published two poetry collections – Phantom Noise and Here, Bullet – and a memoir, My Life as a Foreign Country. He also edited the 2018 anthology The Kiss and was featured in the Academy Award-nominated documentary Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience. Turner’s many honors include an NEA Literature Fellowship in Poetry. He directs the MFA program at Sierra Nevada College and serves as contributing editor at The Normal School.
