Donald F. Montileaux, a member of the Oglala Lakota Nation, is a master ledger artist and storyteller inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 2014. Following in the footsteps of his forefathers, as well as mentors like Oscar Howe and Herman Red Elk, he creates books with striking images that capture the Lakota way of life. Three of his children’s books in English and Lakota were bound into a single volume to form Tatanka & Other Legends of the Lakota People, the 2019 Young Readers One Book.
