Ruth Harper

Ruth Harper, Professor Emerita of Counseling at South Dakota State University, is co-author/editor of four books in her field; in retirement, she became a poet. Harper’s poems appear in Pasque Petals, South Dakota in Poems, and other venues. Her first chapbook, Uncertain Seasons, was published in 2023, and her second, Dreaming the Sturgeon Moon, was the 2025 South Dakota State Poetry Society Chapbook Contest winner. Harper lives in Brookings.
