The History of Traditional American Western Music
This presentation is a mixture of oral history and live music (acoustic music on guitar, bass fiddle, mandolin, and harmonica) from Public Domain traditional Western music of the 1860s -1920s (trail drives and Black Hills mini era – Badger Clark era); select classic, contemporary, and original western music, with background and history behind the songs and songwriters to educate guests on music popular during the 1880s Black Hills Gold Rush era; as well as music of the American West. Western music includes songs of the Hills, valleys, pine trees and plains, cowboys and cowgirls, horses and cattle, pioneer families, gold miners, ghost towns, native Americans, cavalry troopers, outlaws, lawmen, gamblers, and gunfighters. The length of this presentation is tailored to each event to be determined by the host but would typically be 60 minutes long.
