Build Cultural Capital by Donating to SDHC
2019 Festival of Books Features Stories of First Literary Steps
Many of our 2019 donors submitted stories that will make up our “I Learned to Read at” publication to be shared during the 2019 Festival of Books.
Literature is needed now more than ever, as the Pew Research Center has revealed that in our technology-dominated society, 25 percent of American adults did not read a single book in 2018. We created this program to raise awareness for literacy, and to raise money for our programs which encourage reading.
Please visit the information table in the Deadwood Event Center at the 2019 South Dakota Festival of Books in Deadwood Oct. 4-6 to learn more about this program and receive a copy of the "I Learned to Read at" publication!
How Will My Money Be Used?
Festival of Books
Your donation will help us continue to unite readers and writers with our annual South Dakota Festival of Books and Young Readers Festival.
Your gift will help where SDHC needs it most. An unrestricted gift can be used towards operations expenses, programming and special initiatives.
Many of our donors have chosen this option to make a gift to the SDHC in their will or estate planning. Matured stocks, life insurance policies, and IRA rollovers can easily be processed by our Community Foundation partners.
Your contribution to our endowments guarantees the future of our organization for the next generation. You can donate to endowment funds at Black Hills Area Community Foundation, South Dakota Community Foundation and/or Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation.
To donate to a fund, call 605-688-6113 or make your check payable to the specific community foundation and mail to:
