Young Readers Initiative
We are in urgent need of donations for our Young Readers Initiative matching grant, which is only $2,500 short of the $50,000 goal. Click here to donate online or download a printable donation form here.
Young Readers Initiative – 1 to 1 Match
The SDHC received a $100,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. This grant provides a $100,000 1 to 1 ratio federal match if SDHC receives $100,000 from non-federal sources. During the first phase, the SDHC must raise $50,000 by May 1, 2017. The second $50,000 needs to be received by May 1, 2018. The $200,000 fund will then provide three years of support for the Young Readers Initiative.
With this matching grant, we plan to continue our robust Young Readers Initiative and reach more young readers on all nine South Dakota American Indian reservations, select a tribal writer for the 2019 Young Readers One Book and assist Spanish-speaking English Language Learners through translated educational resources.
South Dakota Festival of Books & Young Readers Festival
Your gifts help South Dakota’s premiere literary event continue year after year and helps expand our Young Readers Initiative and the Young Readers Festival of Books.
You can help where SDHC needs it most.
An unrestricted gift can be used towards operations expenses, technology upgrades, programming and special initiatives.
