Book Club to Go

Many titles are also available in audio formats through the South Dakota State Library’s Braille and Talking Book Library, making the program accessible to readers with visual or print disabilities. Some books can be mailed on cartridge, while others are available for download through the BARD mobile app or onto a cartridge or USB drive.

Within the lending library list, titles marked OBSD indicate a past One Book South Dakota selection, and YROB indicates a Young Readers One Book selection.

Great Books, Shared Conversations
Book Club to Go is a free lending program from the South Dakota Humanities Council that makes it easy for book clubs, libraries, and community groups to gather around a great read. We provide sets of books that can be checked out and shared, making it simple for groups across South Dakota to host meaningful discussions without the cost of purchasing multiple copies. By removing barriers to access, Book Club to Go helps more South Dakotans connect through reading, conversation, and community.

Read, Discuss, Connect
Our book sets feature a wide range of titles that explore history, culture, literature, and the human experience. Whether your group is newly formed or has been meeting for years, Book Club to Go offers an easy way to discover thoughtful books and spark engaging discussion. It is one more way the South Dakota Humanities Council brings people together through ideas, stories, and shared learning.

New to the SDHC Lending Library!

                            MMIP BOOK SELECTIONS

SDHC is proud to announce the addition of five new books to our Lending Library. These books share a primary focus: the ongoing crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP).

If your book club would like to request these books from our Lending Library, we’d be happy to share them with you!

The purchase of these books was made possible by funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the United We Stand: Connecting Through Culture initiative.
