Peter Cozzens

Peter Cozzens is a retired Foreign Service Officer and the author of 19 books on the Civil War and the American West, most recently Deadwood: Gold, Guns, and Greed in the American West. His 2016 book, The Earth is Weeping: The Epic Story of the Indian Wars for the American West, won the Gilder Lehrman Military History Prize and was chosen by the Economist as one of the seven greatest military history books ever written. Cozzens and his wife live in Kensington, MD.
