The Magdalene Laundries: From Visit to Verse
This fascinating “travelogue” around Ireland, including slides, discussion, and poetry reading, details how the author’s visit to Ireland led to years-long research into the “Magdalene laundries” of Ireland (and the U.S.) and culminated in a book of poems. These institutions imprisoned and forced into unpaid labor girls and women in the 18th-20th centuries and are still being reckoned with today.

Poetry of the Plains
This program features a reading of original poems by the author, along with photographs and discussion. The poems explore the ways in which daily life, especially in more rural areas, can be sacred and filled with significance. From canning, to washing dishes, to weather, to relationships and loss; even the humblest daily activities can be rich with meaning.
