ENJOY SATURDAY & SUNDAY AT THE FESTIVAL! Hear from Billy Mills, Lian Dolan, Brian Castner, Kao Kalia Yang, and MORE!

September 21, 2024

The 2024 South Dakota Festival of Books is in full swing! Readers and writers can attend more than 50 author sessions throughout Brookings today (Saturday), with closing events at McCrory Gardens tomorrow (Sunday).

Don’t miss your chance to hear from podcasting pioneer Lian Dolan (9 a.m.), Olympic Gold Medalist Billy Mills (3:15 p.m.), and U.S. Air Force Veteran Brian Castner (7 p.m.). For the young and young-at-heart, there is a full slate of presentations by children’s authors and illustrators, including Young Readers One Book creator Juana Medina, at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota.

On Sunday, award-winning Hmong American author Kao Kalia Yang will close the Festival with her insights into family storytelling.

View the full Festival schedule and plan your itinerary! If you can’t be in Brookings this weekend, check out the livestreams of events on the SDHC Facebook page!
