Jessie Taken Alive Rencountre

Jessie Taken Alive Rencountre is a Hunkpapa Lakota author and jingle dress dancer who educates through storytelling, song, and dance. Combining cultural knowledge with her experiences over 15 years as a school counselor, she has published four children’s books, with two more forthcoming in 2023. Rencountre won the Great Plains Emerging Tribal Writer’s Award for her first book, Pet’a Shows Misun the Light, and was named a Future Legacy Leader by the international Spirit Aligned Leadership Program.
