Tempe Javitz
Tempe Javitz grew up in southeastern Montana and graduated with a BA in English Literature from Scripps College, California. She is the granddaughter of Montana photographer Jessamine Spear Johnson. Since 2007 she has worked to preserve Jessamine’s massive legacy, which includes 34 photo boxes, more than 16,000 negatives and prints, and Jessamine’s many diaries and genealogical notes. Tempe’s book about Jessamine’s life and her contributions to Western history and photography is titled Bighorn Visions: The Photography of Jessamine Spear Johnson.
