Lisa Mueller Howard & Joan Mueller Peters
Joan and Lisa Mueller grew up in Freeman, South Dakota, where their Mennonite heritage played a vital role in their daily lives. As direct descendants of one of the first Mennonite families to settle in eastern South Dakota, they have used their extensive family research to pen their first novel, Katy: The Little Rose from Ukraine.This historical children’s fiction book is based on their family’s 1874 immigration journey from Russia to Dakota Territory. Joan is a middle school reading teacher for the West Central School District in Hartford, and Lisa is the Rock Steady Boxing Director in Sioux Falls, helping those living with Parkinson’s.
